The Chief Inspectorate for Environmental Protection's application entitled "Air Quality in Poland" presents current data on air quality from automatic measurement stations operating within the State Environmental Monitoring (SEM). One-hour measurements of PM10 and PM2.5 suspended particulate matter, sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and ozone (O3) concentrations are presented in the form of an index on a six-point scale (from "very good" to "very bad"), referring to the potential impact of pollution on health. One-hour measurements of carbon monoxide (CO) and benzene (C6H6) concentrations are presented in the form of markers of three sizes in a uniform color. In addition, the application presents air quality forecasts for PM10 particulate matter, sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and ozone (O3).
Information on air quality is presented in the form of maps, graphs and summaries of detailed measurement results.
MOST IMPORTANT FUNCTIONS:
With internet access and location services enabled, the application displays data from the nearest measuring station or other selected stations.
The application displays air quality forecasts for the current day and the next two days for the entire area of Poland.
MAIN ELEMENTS:
- DATA FROM THE NEAREST STATION – displays current data on pollutant concentrations from the station located closest to the user.
- CURRENT DATA MAP – displays current data on pollutants from all automatic stations in Poland.
- FORECAST MAP – displays air quality forecast maps for today and the next two days.
- SEARCH FOR A STATION – a list of automatic measuring stations operating within the PMŚ (addresses: city and street) and allowing you to display data from stations by their addresses.
- WARNINGS – information on the occurrence of high pollutant concentrations exceeding information or alarm levels.
- NEWS – information about news published on the GIOŚ air quality portal (e.g. information about the publication of air quality reports).
- VISIT GIOŚ PORTAL – redirection to the GIOŚ air quality portal.
The measurement results presented in the application come from the national GIOŚ air quality database. They are updated every hour based on data recorded from PMŚ measurement stations. The data presented by the application come exclusively from automatic PMŚ measurement stations and are not interpolated. The data presented are before final verification and may change. The data are presented in local time.
Air quality forecasts are developed by the Institute of Environmental Protection – National Research Institute and are updated daily.
Using GPS running in the background may increase battery consumption. The application requires an Internet connection. Using packet data may result in additional charges.
The application was created by Evertop Sp. z o. o. on behalf of GIOŚ as part of the project "Strengthening the air quality assessment system in Poland based on Norwegian experience" under the Operational Program PL03 "Strengthening environmental monitoring and control activities" co-financed by the EEA Financial Mechanism 2009-2014. The development of the application was financed by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
The application is the official application of the Chief Inspectorate for Environmental Protection. See the declaration of availability of this application: https://powietrze.gios.gov.pl/pjp/content/declaration_of_availability_android
